Description
This very rare activity set is in excellent condition, given its considerable age. The game is undated, but judging by the style of dress of the children featured on the superb box image, I would estimate late Victorian or Edwardian (c.1890-1910).
The box does not indicate a manufacturer, which was common for games of this period. The label does include the legend “Made in Bavaria” and my guess is that it was made by J W Spear & Sons (founded in Furth, near Nuremburg, Germany in 1879), who produced many such items for both local and English speaking countries. Spear’s Games later transferred production to the U.K. to flee the Nazis.
The game doesn’t appear to have had much use, despite its age. Includes four original illustrated sheets with suggested designs to attempt.
Overall, this is a superb example of a very rare Antique game, which would grace any collection or museum.
