Description

A nice complete example of this rare 1960’s British board game.  The game has good quality components with wooden playing pieces (passengers).  There is a  full complement of 4 buses and 18 passengers (3 each of 6 colours).  Game instructions are printed on the card box inner.  The box is structurally sound with the usual minor edge repairs commensurate with age.  The box measures 12 x 12 x 1.5 inches (31 x 31 x 3 cm).

Published in 1964, the game was manufactured in England by Morton Productions Ltd.

This game is more sophisticated than first impressions might suggest.  Here are a couple of testimonials from the boardgamegeek site…

“The game that made me a gamer, at age 6 or 7! Although it is roll and move you can choose where to send the buses to create a traffic jam and get an opponents piece thrown off a fully loaded bus by visiting a bus stop and taking a new passenger.  After a few plays I realised you could predict the final placings by looking at the order of the last few passengers on board (once all were en route), so you needed to be clever in the mid game rather than just rushing your first deliveries. Radical stuff for a kids game!”

“Similar to Denys Fisher’s ‘On The Buses’ as you share the ownership of the buses and attempt to move your passengers to the bus station (home) and leave your opponents passengers stranded on the streets.  A neat priority system of ‘first on, first off’ dictates the order the passengers move up the three seats on each of the four buses. The main difference is that bus movement is via a dice (rather than a deck of cards). Buses can also be used to block each other to influence the available paths they can take around the circular track”
