Description
A nice example of the classic British card game Old Maid. Although this version is believed to date from the 1960’s, the caricature artwork is identical to earlier editions. By the 1960’s some of the occupations depicted on the cards must have seemed very outdated, notably the WWII Land Girl. The Womens Land Army (WLA) was disbanded in 1950! According to the instructions, the game was originally supplied with two ‘Old Maid’ cards. One of these would have been a spare, as only one is used in the game (see rules). This probably explains why this set only includes one Old Maid card, the other being separated from the deck.
