Description
This charming and rare vintage game is in great condition, with a full deck of cards and the original Rules. The 35 cards are in good order with little sign of use. Similar to ‘Old Maid’, Donkey consists of 17 pairs of matched character cards and a single Donkey Card. Some of the artwork clearly dates the game, especially the two cards featuring the Land Girl. The Women’s Land Army was reformed in 1939 in readiness for WWII. The game is contained in a novelty two-part box which features extending legs as the inner box is withdrawn. The box has no branding but does indicate “Made in England” on the base. Although there is no makers name marked on the box, it is believed to be a ‘Clifford Series’ game, dating from the immediate post-War period c.1948.
