1946 Bottle Neck Board Game by Pepys, England

Description

Here we have a very rare original post-War British board game Bottle Neck.  This 2 player strategy game is complete and in good vintage condition.  All components are original to the game.  There are 18 aluminium* playing pieces, a Bakelite Shaker and aluminium dice.  The game also includes two sets of instructions, one attached to the box inner and the other printed on card.  Made in England by Castell Brothers under their Pepys brand name.  The game box measures 12 x 11 x 2.5 inches.  The box itself has the usual splits and bowing comensurate with age but the box label is in good order as shown.

*Historical Note:  Aluminium would have been in plentiful supply after the war, with the drop in demand for military aircraft production.  It was used in many games and other domestic products during this period.

Please be aware:  There is a modern reproduction of this game on the market, produced by Heritage Games in 2006.  Be assured that the item for sale here, is a genuine 1940’s 1st edition, manufactured in the U.K.
