1940 The Wizard of Oz Card Game by Castell, London

Description

Here we have a complete example of this rare and sought after card game.  Dating from 1940, it was made in England by Castell Brothers Ltd., London, under their Pepys brand name.  Contains a full deck of 44 cards in good condition as shown. The original instruction leaflet is also present and in good order.  The box has  minor edge splits but otherwise good as shown.

This card game was produced to tie in with the release of the MGM film in Great Britain.  The deck includes forty-four playing cards in four suits which, when aligned sequentially, provides a visual account of the narrative.  Each card features a different scene from the films storyline, as Dorothy and her chums journey along The Yellow Brick Road to the Emerald City.
