Amazingly, this 1938 Soccer Pontoon vintage British Card Game appears to be unused! The two packs of 54 cards are in pristine condition and still have their original paper wrap. The four pads of scoring sheets are unmarked. There are also 3 original folded Rules sheets. From research it appears the maker also produced a cheaper version of the game, containing a single deck of cards. This deluxe ‘red box’ edition has two decks, with a total of 108 quality linen cards. This is a very rare game, especially in this near-mint condition. Made in England by W.H. Storey & Co., Ltd. of Croydon.
Note… Although initially published in 1938, there is reference to the armed forces in an advert on the back of the rules, “An ideal game for the troops and home defence” (see photo), suggesting that this example may have been produced during the second World War (1939-1945).
