Description

“Dog racing at Home with a pack of cards”

A nice example of this very rare British card game.  The game is complete with a full pack of 46 cards and the original instruction booklet.  The cards are in very good condition being clean, crisp and uncreased, with little sign of use.  Made in England by Waddy Productions and dating from 1936.  Still with its original lidded box which is in fair condition for age.  The box base is fully intact, the lid has neat splits to the corners which could be easily restored.

Please refer to all the photos as these form an integral part of the item description.

Description from the boardgamegeek site:

A greyhound racing and betting game.

It consists of 46 cards:

  • 6 cards showing traps
  • 8 x greyhound No.1
  • 8 x No.2
  • 7 x No.3
  • 6 x No.4
  • 5 x No.5
  • 5 x No.6
  • 1 x Disqualified

Game itself is fairly simple: The traps are laid out one above the other, bets are placed on them.
The stack is shuffled well, and one card after another is turned up slowly and laid out along its trap card. Winner is the dog which has 5 turned up cards along its trap.
As there are different number of cards for each dog the odds are fixed accordingly, so that you can make the most money with dogs no.5 and 6.
If the “Disqualified” card turns up it is laid above the trap cards: If a dog has 5 cards counting for it this one is disqualified; winner is the next in line.
