HMS Narwhal (N45) was one of the six Grampus-class mine-laying submarines of the Royal Navy. She was built by Vickers Armstrong, Barrow and launched 29 August 1935. She served in the Second World War in home waters. She was lost in the North Sea on 23 July 1940, probably sunk by German aircraft.

A superb complete example of this very rare vintage jigsaw puzzle.  Contains all of the original plywood pieces as shown.  The box is in excellent condition, with no splits or repairs. Made in England by G Hayter, Boscombe.  The game also has the retailer’s sticker on the base of the box, A J Standage & Co., Weybridge.  I doubt many of these have survived, especially in this wonderful condition.

Please refer to all the photos, as these form an integral part of the item description.

Historical Note:
The wreck of HMS Narwhal was recently discovered… link to article
