Description

Here we have a nice example of a classic children’s favourite, dating from the 1930’s.  The game consists of the fish pond, fishing rods and a selection of fish (and old boots!) as shown.  It is in good vintage condition with superb artwork throughout.  The box lid has sympathetic repairs to split corner with additional card attached to the internal surface.  Instructions for play are printed on the underside of the box lid.

I have been advised that this game  is a combination of two sets from different British manufacturers.  The box is from a Spears game and the Pond is by Roberts Brothers, as illustrated in the book “Games-Makers To The Empire”.  This publication provides a definitive history of Roberts Brothers Ltd. of Gloucester (Glevum Games).

Overall, a superb period piece which would grace any collection.

Please refer to all the photos as these form an integral part of the item description.
