Description
This is the very rare British edition of Gliding, an inter-war board game by J.W. Spear & Sons Ltd., Enfield, England, The game was published in 1925 as indicated by the patent numbers shown at the bottom of the rules. The german edition of the game was perhaps more common due to the popularity of Gliding in Germany during this period, promoted by the RRG.
Sadly, the playing pieces and box are a distant memory, but the good news is that the box lid, less edges, with it’s wonderful period artwork has survived. Presumably the lid was kept for the rules which are on the underside. The single-fold game board is still present and in excellent condition as shown. Having the rules available means that this game could still be played with a few counters and standard dice (not included). It would also make a superb display item, especially if sympathetically mounted. Ideal for a museum or private collection.
