1924 Wembley – The British Empire Game

Description

A very rare game, produced for the British Empire Exhibition.  This is the only example I have seen in many years of collecting.  All that remains of the game is the board itself which is in good condition given its age.  The playing surface depicts a plan of the exhibition ground with all the British colonies represented.  The board also shows Wembley Stadium, now famous for hosting important domestic and international football matches.  Originally called the Empire Stadium, it was replaced by a new stadium in 2007.

The game board does not indicate a maker, which was common for the period.  The open board measures 12″ x 12″.  This very scarce game would look great mounted and framed and would grace any museum or private collection.
