Description
A very rare antique game board, dating from the 1920’s. “Flip-o-Hoy” with its early aviation theme, was made in England by Chad Valley of Harborne. The rules suggest that playing pieces were generic and sold separately (not unusual for the period). The large, double-fold board would make an excellent display piece for a museum or private collection and could easily be framed and wall mounted if desired. The game Rules are attached to the rear of the board. According to these, there would have been a spinner at the centre of the board to determine player moves. Although no longer present, I believe the spinner would have been a separate component, not physically attached to the board. The game is featured in Brian Love’s 1978 “Play The Game” book. Interestingly, the example in the book doesn’t show the spinner either? Note: I will upload some of these photos to the boardgamegeek site, as their current images are copied from the book, rather than of the actual game.
Please refer to all the photos as these form an integral part of the item description
