Description

Here’s a wonderful early party / gambling game, with contents in very good vintage condition as shown.  The game consists of: a large board (16″ x 16″); a pair of wooden “Rollers”; coloured tokens (probably replacements) and an original cast metal Croupier’s rake.  The idea is to roll tokens onto the playing surface and gain credit by landing on specific areas.  Game instructions are printed on a label, attached to the underside of the box lid (see photo).

The box lid illustration seems to indicate that there may have been four “Rollers” originally?   This is pure speculation however, as the U.K. Trade Descriptions Act did not become law until 1968!  I have seen many early games where the illustrations use more than their fair share of artistic license!

The game was manufactured in the UK by Dolphin (Games & Toys).  Due to its rarity, I have been unable to find any details online.  But going  by the style and fashions depicted on the box label, it is estimated to date from the 1920’s.

A very rare game, which is unlikely to appear for sale again anytime soon!
