1920 Baby Jim Comic Quoits Game by Spears, England

Description

A fine example of this rare ‘hoop-la’ game featuring Baby Jim, a football playing elephant!  What’s not to like?  The game was designed in England and manufactured by Spears (originally from Germany).  Interestingly, the word ‘Bavaria’ has been overstamped on the box lid, possibly due to British sentiments following the Great War?

The box is in very good condition, with all corners intact.  As with many of these early British games, it has superb period artwork and would make a wonderful display item for a private collector or museum.  The game functions as designed.  A strengthening short wooden splint has been glued to the back (plain side) of the figure at a weak point, not visible from the front.

The game has a full set of eight hoops.  Instructions, along with adverts for other Spears games, are printed on the underside of the box lid as shown.
