“An Exceedingly Clever Game”

Here’s a very rare World War 1 period antique  Parlour Game published in 1916.  The Design Patent Number 1729/16 is printed on the box, the last two digits denote the year.  Given its age, this wonderful game has survived in remarkable condition.  The sturdy box hinges open to reveal the inbuilt components.  A wooden target board is attached to the underside of the box lid, along with the printed instructions.  A metal Spring-Loaded Ring launching device is fixed to the base of the box as shown.  This device has a trigger mechanism which retains the spring when set.  It also rotates to allow lateral targeting.  Due to its rarity, I have not managed to establish the manufacturer.  With its superb period artwork on the box label, the game would make an excellent display piece for a museum or private collection.  The box measures 39 x 26 x 4cm.
