Description

This rare Antique board game features in Brian Love’s 1979 book Great Board Games, although this example is believed to be an even earlier edition than the one shown in the book.  According to the book,  this game first appeared in the J W Spear Catalogue for 1910/11.  As the game instructions label indicates ‘New Edition‘, I believe this example was probably produced sometime later that decade.  It was designed in England and manufactured at the Spear Works, Bavaria.

The single-fold Game Board is in excellent condition considering its significant age.  In addition to the board, there are wooden playing pieces and a tiny bone dice.  Game instructions are printed on a label attached to the underside of the box lid.  The rules show consequences of landing on particular spaces.

The box lid has superb period Artwork, which is still very colourful and bright.  The box itself is in reasonable antique condition.  There are two internal corner repairs to the box lid and a section of the top edge is missing.
