Description
This is an antique 1905 edition of the classic Happy Families card game by Roberts Brothers of Gloucester, England (The Glevum Series). The card illustrations are from a late Victorian set entitled Funny Families, originally produced by Woolley & Co. Ltd. (London). Roberts Brothers obtained the rights to the Woolley & Co. back catalogue when they ceased trading in 1904.
There is a full set of 36 cards featuring nine families of four (Mr. / Mrs. / Master / Miss). The cards are in good condition for their age (well over 100 years). The box lid is also in very good order as shown. There have been some sympathetic repairs to the plain box base.
Overall, a very nice example of a rare and early British card game.
