1930’s ‘Cries of London’ SNAP Card Game, Roberts Brothers, England

Description

Nice original pack of early Snap cards, made in England by Roberts Brothers Ltd. of Gloucester (The Glevum Series).  This card design was originally produced by Woolley & Co Ltd. in the early 1900’s.  Production of the same cards continued after the company was taken over by Roberts Brothers.  The cards are in good condition and still in their original box which is also in good order.  There are 36 cards in total, (12 sets of 3).  I have not attempted to clean the box or cards, so they retain their originality from many years of use.

Note.  During research, I noticed that the ‘World of Playing Cards‘ site shows two additional images, ‘All Hot and Floury!‘ and ‘Milk!‘.  I am not sure whether these were earlier, discontinued cards or later additions to the original set?  The cards depicted on the WOPC site have rounded corners and yellow ground to the reverse.  Other sites (e.g. spitalfieldslife) only show the 12 images present in this ‘square corner’ version of the game.
