Description

This is a very rare find.  In many years of collecting I have never seen this game before.  “Rescue” is a simple roll and move game where the players attempt to save the most Passengers from a stricken vessel.  Each player sets out from the shoreline in their Lifeboat.  After picking up survivors from the wreck, they return to the shore.  For each successful trip, a card is collected which indicates the number of people rescued.  The winner is the player who saves most passengers.

The game is in good condition for age with an undamaged playing surface as shown.  The small box contains a bone dice, three Lifeboat playing pieces on metal stands and the original Rules sheet.  As there are four starting points on the board, there were probably four Lifeboat pieces originally.  I have produced lots of ‘Passenger Cards’ to allow the game to be played.  The Game Board measures 52 x 13 cm.

Made in England by Chad Valley of Harborne.  The game is estimated to date from early Twentieth century c.1900’s.
