Description
Very rare and early prediction device, made in England by Gale & Polden Ltd., 2 Amen Corner, London, EC4. The game is complete and in very good condition as shown. The tinplate spinner still functions and the accompanying booklet is complete with all 999 predictions. The booklet has a few loose pages.
The Wheel of Fortune works by spinning each of the three wheels in turn to generate a 3-digit number. The booklet provides a prediction for all of the possible combinations.
It’s difficult to be exact about its age, as neither the spinner nor booklet appear to have date marks, and I have been unable to find another example on the internet. Going by the Art Nouveau style, I would estimate manufacture to be late 19th or early 20th century. According to Wikipedia, Gale & Polden opened an office in Amen Corner in 1892, so it must be after this date. Please let me know if you have further information about the game.
