Description

Here’s an original, late Victorian Hopla Parlour game by J.W. Spear & Sons.  Designed in the United Kingdom, the game was made in Bavaria for the British market.  It is estimated to date from the 1890’s.  The box is in good condition with all corners intact.

This game was produced in two sizes, this being the smaller variant with a grid of 5 x 5 holes.  The larger type had a grid of 7 x 7 holes.  The same instruction label, which shows the large version, was used for both games.  This may explain some minor discrepancies with the contents provided.  I think it is likely that the single hand piece, and just 3 colours of projectile, may be correct for this smaller variant.

The Box measures 7 x 7 x 1.5 inches (17 x 17 x 4 cm).
