Description

Here’s a very rare antique set with a twist on the traditional game.  In place of the usual dots, Matrimonial Dominoes has images of seven different Flowers, along with an indication of the matrimonial aspect they represent (very Victorian!).  The pictures are printed on heavy duty card. The original wooden box contains a complete  set of 28 pieces as shown.  The hardwood box lid has a wonderful lithograph label attributed to F. Waller of 18 Hatton Garden.  I managed to find some information about Frederick Waller here.  The box measures 19 x 9 x 2.5cm.  The game was published by Jaques of London and is estimated to date from the 1880’s.  With its superb period artwork, this item would make an excellent display piece, ideal for a museum or private collection.
